When you're thinking of selling your home, and want to up the asking price a little, there are some things that you can do to increase the value of your home that won't break the bank. You might think that you have to do a huge overhaul but the fact is, doing some cosmetic upgrades can be exactly what you need to make a huge difference. Don't over think it. You don't have to rip out the floors or knock down any walls. Keep it simple and let any potential buyer paint their own picture by doing these 3 simple things that make a huge difference.
#1. Declutter Your Space
When you're selling your home, you want it as clutter-free as possible. When a potential buyer comes in, they don't want to see all of your belongings. They want to see an empty space that allows them to create a picture of how they'd want each room to function. You don't have to throw everything out but it's a good time to evaluate what items are coming to your next home and to get rid of anything you don't need. Other options are to bring any extra belongings to a storage locker, or rent a storage bin and park it in the driveway to hold your stuff until moving day. If you're feeling overwhelmed, have a packing party and invite friends and family to help. A lot of gently used items can be donated so you can feel even better about clearing out your space. Imagine when you're looking to buy a home, you might want it to feel light, airy, welcoming, and inviting. Other people want the same thing. They want to picture themselves in that space. Help nudge them to buy by making it feel like it's their home already.
#3. Freshen Up The Kitchen
You don't need to think about buying all new appliances when updating your kitchen. If your kitchen space needs an overhaul, there are a few things that make a significant impact. Start with the countertop. Shop around and find an updated style that will give your kitchen a pop of style.
